The Design Museum and Unit Editions invite you to a day of talks and round-table conversations devoted to the secret life of the graphic design studio.

If you are a student or a recent graduate, this is an opportunity to ask some of the best graphic designers in the UK the questions you've always wanted to ask. You will get a unique glimpse into the inner workings of their studios; what they look for in potential employees; advice on how to approach studios; what to expect when you get a placement or a job; and how to present your work.

For working designers with an itch to start their own studio, this is a chance to find out how leading designers develop a successful studio culture. It's a unique opportunity to ask such questions as: how to set up a studio; how to keep clients happy; how to get new ones; how to deal with finances; and how to develop a studio philosophy – even a music policy.

This event is inspired by the book Studio Culture: The secret life of the graphic design studio, edited by Adrian Shaughnessy and Tony Brook. It will be for sale at a reduced price.

Entry is free and visitors are invited to stay all day, or dip in and out as they please. No need to book – just turn up. This is the schedule for the day:
