Studio Culture sale starts today!

From 1st June until 31st July you can buy Studio Culture at the reduced price of £12.50 (includes free postage to anywhere in the world).

The book contains penetrating interviews with 28 leading graphic design studios, including Build, Edenspiekermann, Experimental Jetset, Milton Glaser, Bibliothèque and Non-Format. The interviews provide a unique glimpse into the inner workings of these studios, as well as their attitude towards interns, portfolio reviews, the problems of growth - even their music policy - and much more. We get an intimate look into studios around the world, plus a series of revealing portraits of studios from the past to the present day. The book concludes with a section entitled 'Studio Intelligence', touching on subjects such as green issues, space planning, lighting and getting paid.

Studio Culture is the perfect read for graduates thinking about starting their own studio, and more experienced designers contemplating 'going it alone'. But it is also a helpful guide for those planning to approach existing design studios for work or freelance opportunities.

Stop Press: Unit Editions will 'take over' the Design Museum for one day in July, hosting a special event about Studio Culture. Details to follow.

"Tony Brook and Adrian Shaughnessy conduct penetrating interviews with a group of visionary graphic designers who have formed and run landmark international design studios. In a series of candid and revealing interviews, many of the leading figures in contemporary graphic design reveal the secrets behind creating a vibrant studio culture." - Chronicle Books

"Studio Culture as a book/object is rich in its detailing from the typography and layout, considered selection of stocks to the more obvious - brown overprinted circles wrap around the cover creating an interesting visual rhythm. [...] As for the content, I found everything to be insightful and informative and the foreword by Ben Bos is a great introduction to the book." - September Industry

"Just when you thought there was nothing new in graphic design publishing, along comes Studio Culture, an entertaining look at the way studios work, from premises, location and furniture to rent reviews and partnership agreements." - Eye magazine

"It's a great read, and for me, a glimpse into a whole other universe. I don't really see myself as part of the graphic design world (more of a journalist really), and I've mainly worked in magazine and newspaper offices. So I'm fascinated by studios and studio life, from an outsider's point of view. [...] The interviews are really absorbing, and the pictures are pretty cool too - some of the studios look like spaces you'd really want to work in." - Mark Porter

"Watch out all those boring design book publishers... I'm a happy reader and an envious publisher." - Simon Esterson
